2. Licence
We grant you a personal, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to install and use one copy of the app on devices you own or control, for your own non-commercial use, in accordance with the usage rules of the store you downloaded it from. The app is licensed, not sold. We keep all intellectual property in it. You may not copy, modify, reverse-engineer, decompile, rent, resell or redistribute it, or remove any notice in it, except where that restriction is void under law that applies to you.
3. Not a medical device
Migraine Meta is a wellness product, not a medical device. It does not diagnose, does not recommend, prescribe, adjust or discourage any treatment, does not predict attacks and does not interpret its own numbers into a clinical decision. What it does is count what you log and report what those counts will support, with the uncertainty attached, and say still counting when they will not support anything.
Every number the app shows is a description of the data you entered. Its accuracy depends entirely on the completeness and honesty of your logging, and no statistical result on a single person's diary establishes cause. Nothing in the app is medical advice, and it is not a substitute for consulting a qualified clinician. The Medical Disclaimer is part of these terms and you should read it.
4. Free features and subscription features
Migraine Meta is subscription-only. There is no free tier. After a seven-day trial the app requires an active subscription to open — not a locked tab, but the whole app: logging, history, medications and the findings alike. When a subscription lapses the app shows the purchase screen and nothing else.
Your record is not deleted and not altered. It stays on your device exactly as you left it, and the app opens again on the day the subscription does.
Two things never require a subscription, because they are rights you hold over your own data rather than features we sell: Export my data and Delete my data are both reachable from the purchase screen itself, free of charge, with no account. Since your record is held only on your device and never by us, that in-app path is the only way to exercise access, portability and erasure — so it cannot sit behind a paywall, and it does not. See the Privacy Policy.
We may introduce a free tier in a future release. If we do, we will not withdraw it afterwards from anyone who had it.
5. Subscription, renewal and cancellation
Subscriptions are offered monthly and annually and are sold, billed and managed entirely by Apple or Google — not by us. We never see or hold your payment details.
- The price for your storefront, in your own currency, and the renewal period are shown on the purchase screen before you buy. That screen is authoritative.
- The subscription renews automatically at the same price and period until you cancel. Your store charges the account within 24 hours before the end of the current period.
- Cancel any time in your store account settings — Apple: Settings → your name → Subscriptions; Google: Play Store → Subscriptions. Cancelling before the renewal date stops the next charge; access continues to the end of the period already paid for. Deleting the app does not cancel a subscription.
- If a price changes, your store asks for your consent before charging the new price, and the subscription does not renew at the higher price without it.
- Purchases restore on a new device through the store, using the “Restore purchases” option on the purchase screen.
6. Refunds
Because the stores are the merchant of record, refunds are theirs to grant, under their policies — Apple through Report a Problem, Google through the Play Store's order history. We cannot issue a refund ourselves. Where consumer law in your country gives you a statutory right of withdrawal or refund, that right applies and nothing here limits it. If you believe you were charged wrongly, write to us anyway and we will help you make the case to the store.
7. Free trial
There are two distinct things called a trial, and it matters which one you have.
- The seven days on your device. When you finish the setup questions the app gives you seven days of full access on that phone. No purchase is involved, nothing is charged, no subscription is created and nothing is scheduled. When the seven days end the app closes until you subscribe. You can subscribe at any point during them, or not at all.
- The store's introductory offer. If you buy a subscription and the product carries an introductory free trial, that trial is managed by Apple or Google, is one per store account, and converts into a paid subscription at the end unless you cancel at least 24 hours before it ends. The length and the price it converts to are shown on the purchase screen before you buy, and that screen is authoritative. If you cancel during it you are not charged; any unused part is forfeited if you subscribe early.
The seven days on your device are tied to that installation, not to your store account. Reinstalling the app is not a way to obtain a subscription, and we may change or remove the on-device trial in any future release.
8. Your data is yours
Your record stays on your device and we claim no rights in it whatsoever. We cannot recover it for you, because we never have a copy — if you lose or reset the device without having exported the record, it is gone. Export regularly and keep the file somewhere you trust. See the Privacy Policy for the full account of what is stored and what leaves the device.
9. Acceptable use
Don't use the app to make clinical decisions for anyone else, don't present its output as a diagnosis, don't attempt to break, probe or circumvent the subscription check, and don't use it in any way that breaks the law where you are.
10. Third-party services
The app relies on RevenueCat for subscription verification and, if you turn it on, on open-meteo.com for barometric pressure. Their availability and accuracy are not under our control. Pressure figures come from a public weather model and may be wrong or missing for a place or a date; findings that depend on them carry that limitation. Health figures read from Apple Health or Health Connect are only as accurate as the device that recorded them.
11. No warranty
The app is provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranty of any kind, express or implied, including fitness for a particular purpose, merchantability, accuracy and non-infringement. We do not warrant that it will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that any result it computes is correct or clinically meaningful for you. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of implied warranties; in those places this section applies only to the extent permitted, and your statutory consumer rights are unaffected.
12. Limitation of liability
To the fullest extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential or punitive damages, or for lost data, lost profits, or any harm to health arising from decisions taken on the basis of anything the app displays. Our total liability for any claim relating to the app is limited to the greater of the amount you paid us for it in the twelve months before the claim, or ten US dollars.
Nothing in these terms excludes or limits liability that cannot lawfully be excluded — including liability for death or personal injury caused by negligence, for fraud, or under non-excludable consumer protection law.
13. Term and termination
These terms apply for as long as you have the app installed. You may end them at any time by deleting the app. We may suspend or end your licence if you materially breach these terms; if we do, and you have unused paid time, you may seek a pro-rata refund from your store. Sections 3, 8, 10, 11, 12 and 14 survive termination.
14. Changes
We may update these terms. Material changes will be reflected in the date at the top of this page and in the app's release notes. If you keep using the app after a change takes effect, you accept the new terms; if you don't accept them, stop using the app and cancel any subscription.
15. Governing law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Karnataka, India, excluding its conflict-of-law rules, and the courts at Bengaluru have exclusive jurisdiction — except that if you are a consumer resident elsewhere, you keep the right to bring proceedings in your own country of residence and to the protection of its mandatory consumer law, including the EEA, UK and US consumer protections that apply to you. Before filing anything, please email us; almost everything is faster to fix than to litigate.
16. Apple-specific terms
Where you obtained the app from the Apple App Store, the following apply and prevail over anything inconsistent above:
- This agreement is between you and us only, not with Apple, and Apple is not responsible for the app or its contents.
- Apple has no obligation to furnish any maintenance or support for the app.
- If the app fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price; to the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation with respect to the app.
- Apple is not responsible for addressing any claim by you or a third party relating to the app, including product liability, legal or regulatory non-compliance, and consumer protection claims.
- Apple is not responsible for the investigation, defence, settlement or discharge of any third-party claim that the app infringes intellectual property rights.
- You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US Government embargo or designated as a terrorist-supporting country, and that you are not on any US Government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
- Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them against you.
Where you obtained the app from Google Play, the Google Play Terms of Service apply to the transaction in addition to these terms.
17. Contact
This agreement is published in English. The in-app purchase screen, safety wording and your rights — export, correction and erasure in Settings — are shown in German, Spanish, French, Italian, Japanese, Korean, Portuguese and Chinese inside the app. Do not machine-translate this page; human translation per locale is required.
